Keith was unique in his manner of flight instruction.
It is with great sorrow I have recently learned that Keith had passed away. I was Keith's first student pilot after he earned his FAA Flight Instructor's certificate back in 1999. We had chatted regularly on the phone or via e-mail over the years and when I had not heard from in a while and his phone service had stopped I did an internet search and discovered his passing. Keith was a great flight instructor in a way that he always made you feel calm when in flight. He was intense with instrument flying and he actually put the hood on me during my first flying lesson. He used this approach all through my private pilot rating and by the time I was training for my instrument rating, I was ready and passed my FAA Instrument check ride within 43 hours of instrument flight time. The national average was 100 hours of time back then, which equated to saving my lots of money. Although he was my flight instructor, we were friends outside of flying. He was a busy individual taking care of his invalid wife of many years, started a lawn mowing business after he left flight instruction and was writing a book. Not sure if he ever got around to finishing it but he was very passionate about writing. Thanks for listening.
