My mother was an amazing person. She was credited with healing a man after she started taking care of a terminal cancer patient whom found curled in a ball when she began her job as a CNA in his home.At first he would not speak .Later he spoke only to tell her she would not be there long.Well We shall see she said.Everyday Mother went to work talking brightly ,opening curtains ,rubbing his feet, encouraging him to drink juice and finally begging the nurses to give him less pain meds. Finally they relented saying he will go crazy from the pain. That did not happen. He recovered and soon found he no longer needed care as he was able to sit up,dress himself ,prepare his own meals and just generally take care of business in ways nobody ever expected. He told Mother well I thought I was going to pass away but now it looks like Im going to live. I signed my stuff over to my daughter already now what should I do?Moms answer was Im a homehealth Aid not a lawyer Walter .You will figure it out and he did and Walter went on to live several more years . She was never a quitter .She always beleived so long as there was life in a person that there was hope for recovery. One of her favorite saying was Doctors are not God .In fact that is my favorite saying as well. In her years of home health work we received many cards, flowers and giftbaskets from people thanking us for the outstanding job my Mother did in caring for their loved ones. Ive always been so proud of her for this.
