Obituary for James Leo Hilmes

James  Leo  Hilmes
James Leo Hilmes, age 74 of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home.

The son of Ben and Johanna (Gronniger) Hilmes was born December 11, 1941 in Springfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Woods and husband Lewis, Patricia Jumara; brothers, Vincent Hilmes and his first wife, Mary Jo and 2nd wife Wilma “Willie” and Al Hilmes and wife Joan; brother-in-law, Don Walker; two nieces; and one nephew.

James was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement he was an avid fisherman and radio control airplane enthusiast.

Survivors are his sisters, Mary Ann Rumker and husband Bill of Kansas City, MO, Elizabeth Walker of Scottsdale, AZ, and Cecelia M. Tartar and husband David of Neosho, MO; and his brother, Ben Hilmes and wife Mary Lou of Raleigh, N.C; his brother-in-law, Joseph Jumara; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation and arrangements are under the care of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

There is no service planned.
