I first met Diana when I was 4 years old. My sister, Diana and I were practically inseparable through grade school, junior high and into high school. Oh, and the shenanigans we got ourselves into! If discovered, Debbe and I tended to place full blame on Diana as Mary and Yaya were much more forgiving than our parents! I think Diana was always more than happy to be considered lead conspirator for most of our adventures - each was like a badge of honor to be worn proudly! Beneath her gruff exterior, she had a heart of gold, and was always there to offer support or lend a hand to friends and strangers alike. Diana, you will be sorely missed by many. May you rest in peace.
I will never forget Diana. She was unique, funny, kind, accepting of others and a great friend.
I had no idea I would miss her so much. We had so many adventures in junior high and high school! My favorites- skipping school to go to the Lake and getting caught by the vice principal, sneaking to Curlys during lunch for a cone and that same school official making us hold it while it melted and ran down our arms, protesting the dress code at school to wear pants that zipped up the front (ie jeans) and shorter skirts, driving around in her Camaro singing Janis Joplin songs, playing cards in Kenny's hippie bus, having pizza delivered to people and watching from her roof, hanging out at Mary and Yaya's Cafe. I wish I could have seen her more through the years.
God got another angel, you will be missed! The City of Waynesville lost an awesome person that knew a lot about things that needed to be done and how to do them. You were a very special person with a beautiful smile. My prayers and thoughts are with your family and friends. Smile down on all of us!
