Wilma Faye Atkins Davis, 77, Brookline, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
She was born on July 9, 1947 to David Jesse Atkins and Wilma Vera (Wilson) Atkins in Lebanon, MO. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1965 and Southwest Baptist College in 1969 where she majored in Physical Education and minored in Business. Wilma went on to teach PE and coach girls softball, volleyball, track, and girls' basketball for Stoutland and Newburg school districts. She was also the yearbook advisor for both school districts.
She married Joe Davis on May 4, 1974. Wilma was a homemaker, taking care of her husband and her children. Wilma enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, reading, thoroughly investigating the family tree, and sewing. She made clothes for herself and her family. She accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized into the Baptist Church. Wilma and her family attended church regularly and it was important to her that her daughters were active in the church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Davis, children, Janet Davis and Sara Jenkins, grandchildren, Nellie Jenkins and William Jenkins, sister, son-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Memorial graveside service will be at 10 am Friday, February 28, 2025 at Brookline Cemetery in Brookline, Missouri with Pastor Scotty Killingsworth officiating under the care of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
