William Youngberg

William Dean Youngberg, age 83, passed away in Springfield, MO on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

He was born on May 26, 1940 in Chanute, KS to Ruel Raymond Elmer and Viola Ruth (Rensing) Youngberg. He graduated from Emporia State University with a business degree and retired from a successful career in industrial engineering.

William is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia Louise Youngberg, sister; Sharon Kiesel, three daughters; Denise and husband Thomas Baldwin, Diane and husband Sean Musick, and Deborah and husband Rodney Noble, grandchildren; Ashley and husband Michael Clair, Abigail Musick, Alec Musick, Kiley Baldwin, Jacob Noble, Evan Musick, and Molly Noble, and great grandchildren; Emilia and Lucille Clair; and a sister-in-law Shirley Youngberg. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman Youngberg.

William was a proud father and grandfather and a devout member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. His family remembers him as a gentle, compassionate and ambitious man. He was passionate about politics, investments and fitness, enjoying cycling, tennis and triathlons well into his 70s—including the 300-mile Oklahoma Freewheel. However, he would tell you his greatest accomplishment was his family.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 1 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. in Springfield, MO. The rosary will be conducted at 5 PM and the visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7 PM. A special eulogy gathering will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, November 2 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 W. Republic Rd. in Springfield, MO with Father Mike McDevitt officiating the funeral mass immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society in his memory.
