William West

William “Bill” Truman West died October 17, 2012. Bill was born on May 31, 1934 to Bert Adolf West and Narcissus Isabelle (Campbell) West in Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Irene (Farr) West; six children, Theresa Irene Burden, Springfield, William Wayne West and his wife, Kathy, Little Rock, AR, Joseph Preston West, Rogers, AR, Jack Russell West, Forsyth, MO, Richard Laverne West, Rogersville, MO and Ramona Gail Gunselman and her husband, Mark, Winchester, TN; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Bill was a member of Glenstone Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Springfield in 1996 where he was employed for 28 years. A kind and gentle man who loved his God, his family, and mankind, and was respected by all. He will be remembered with joy as well as sadness of our loss.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home Chapel, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield, with Pastor Doug Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Bass Chapel Cemetery in Strafford. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, in the funeral home.
