William Jones, Sr.

We gather here today to celebrate the life and honor the memory of William “Willie” Frank Jones Sr., a man whose life exemplified the values of hard work, love, and unwavering commitment. Born in Springfield, Missouri, on November 22, 1936, Willie passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives. Willie taught us the importance of perseverance. Whether it was through his years of service in the Army, his devotion to his family, or his passion for mastering everything he set his mind to, Willie showed us that determination and effort could overcome life’s greatest challenges. He didn’t just teach this lesson with words—he lived it every day.

Willie was not only a proud veteran who served his country with honor and distinction but also a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. His time in the Army was a testament to his dedication and courage, traits that remained central to his character throughout his life.

For 48 years, Willie shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Peggy. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories. Willie found joy in the simple but profound things: playing music that brought people together and operating heavy equipment, where his skill and focus shone. These passions reflected both his creative spirit and his hardworking nature.

As we reflect on Willie’s life, we also honor the family who shaped him and those who carry on his legacy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae; his father, Zeke; his daughter, Brenda; his son, Frankie; his sister, Retha; and his brothers, Bill and Robert. Willie deeply cherished their memories, and we find comfort knowing he is reunited with them now.

Willie is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; his brother, Jerry of Springfield, Missouri; his two sisters, Loretta of Springfield, Missouri and Betty and husband Allen of Dover, Delaware. He also leaves behind his eight children: Bobby and wife Teresa of Texas; Angela and her husband, Charles, of Galena, Missouri; Tim and Melissa of Galena, Missouri; William Jr. of Greenville, Illinois; Tim of Lebanon, Missouri; Greg and wife Glenna of Lebanon, Missouri; Curtis of Lebanon, Missouri and Shelly and husband Eric of Springfield, Missouri. Willie’s legacy extends to 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whose lives will forever be enriched by his love and example.

Today, we also honor Willie’s memory with the support of his pallbearers: Bobby Filbeck, Tim Filbeck, Charles Hooper, Justin Filbeck, Charlie Hooper, and Uzziel Coriano. These loved ones represent the strong bonds Willie created throughout his life.

Willie’s legacy is one of strength, kindness, and love. He showed us the value of perseverance, the joy of creating memories through music and hard work, and the importance of family. As we say goodbye, let us carry these lessons forward, ensuring that his spirit lives on in how we live and love.

Rest in peace, Willie. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
