Walter Dale Ressmeyer, born July 8th, 1957, departed this earth Friday, November 22nd in his home in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born to Dale and Karen Ressmeyer in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Walt attended Parkview High School and Missouri State University where he earned a double major in Sociology and Psychology. While there he met the love of his life, Pam Senter and they remained in love and together for the next 39 years.
Walt's life work revolved around helping others. He worked at Lakes Country, at Burrell Mental Health, at Head Start and at Fremont Elementary. It was at Fremont that he may have found his true calling, because he took such delight in the children there. He even started a chess club for them.
Walt loved life and his interests were diverse. He was a successful musician touring with his band the Royal Nonesuch, plus playing in The Very Nerve and later Rabbi Sputnik. He was an accomplished tournament chess player with a "Class A" ranking and was a member of the Park Board Chess Club since the age of 15. Walt valued his friends and family and stayed closely connected with childhood friends, speaking to many of them daily or weekly by phone, often for hours at a time.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Ressmeyer, his stepfather, Don Radle, his younger brother, Brett Radle and his most beloved pet, Kib Kib the Silver Sable Tabby.
Walt is survived by his mother, Karen Radle, his sisters Ann and Pam, his brother Jeff, his nephews Robert and Jacob and his partner in life, Pam Senter.
Services for Walt will be held on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri and will begin at 3:30pm.
