Virginia Treptow

Virginia F. Treptow, 88, Springfield, passed away on November 16, 2008 in Mercy Villa.

She was born November 21, 1919, in Baltimore, MD, to William S. and Mary Pearl (France) Finlayson. On April 6, 1946, she married Russell F. Treptow. He passed away in 1994.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Dexter and her husband J. Kent, and Debbie Small; her grandchildren, David F. Dexter, and John R. Dexter, II; her great-granddaughter Amanda Lee Dexter; her brother, William S. Finlayson, Jr.; and special friend, David Froehlich.

Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed a broad range of activities. She painted, wrote poetry, was skilled in needlecrafts including embroidery and lace making, and especially loved flowers. She served on the board of the North Kansas City, MO, Public Library, was treasurer of the Women's City Club in Kansas City, MO, and was a member of the Rachel Donelson Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution in Springfield.

The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff of Mercy Villa for the care Virginia received for the past 3 years. She was always treated with dignity and respect. Thanks also to her physicians, Dr. Norm Knowlton and Dr. Tim Wilson, for the excellent care they provided to her.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 19, 2008 in Springfield National Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 Tuesday in the chapel of Mercy Villa Nursing Home, 1100 E. Montclair.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the SW Missouri Humane Society or to the Salvation Army.
