Virginia Adair Rostine went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2008, in Springfield MO. Born in Hutchinson KS on March 14, 1918 to Sims and Vearlea Adair, she grew up and attended schools in Kansas City. Virginia was a proud University of Missouri Tiger, having graduated in 1939 with a degree in journalism. She worked briefly for The Kansas City Star before marrying William R. Rostine in 1941. They lived many years in Hutchinson KS where their five children were born and raised. Virginia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years where she was active in Women's Society of Christian Service and taught Sunday School. She was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, and a member of Delta Gamma. After retirement, she and Bill moved to Table Rock Lake MO and enjoyed many years living by the lake. They were members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield MO.
Virginia is survived by five children and spouses�son Bill Rostine and wife Karen of Springfield MO, and daughters Carol Hayes of Huntsville TX, Kathy Stewart of Nixa MO, Joan Salmon and husband Mike of Springfield MO, and Mary Newby and husband Scott of Piedmont OK. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Boyd Rostine and Warren Schmitt, both of Hutchinson, sister-in-law Gladys Adair of Atlanta, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William R. Rostine, her parents, brother Syl Adair, sons-in-law Herb Stewart and David Hayes, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Virginia was a devoted mother and a blessing to all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the loving and selfless care given to their mother by the staff at the Manor at Elfindale in Springfield MO. Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson KS, on Thursday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Pat Ault-Duell officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in McPherson KS City Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson KS.
