Virginia May McCurtain

Virginia May McCurtain, daughter of Evelyn Pearl (Griffith) and Thurman “Buddy” Lee Brown, was born Wednesday, January 1, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on February 1, 2025, at her home in Springfield, Missouri. She was 78 years and 1 month old at the time of her death.

Virginia loved her nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews as her own and was fondly known as Aunt Genny May to them. She shared a love of Elvis Presley with her sisters. She lived her life to its fullest making many memories with her children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, and nephew.

Virginia is survived by her son: Raymond King of Springfield, MO, son: Roy Jones of Springfield, MO, daughter: Elizabeth Strickland of Fulton, MO and daughter & son-in-law: Regina & Terry Lawson of Woodward, OK, son: Erik McCurtain of Springfield, MO, sisters: Cleta Souders & Deloris Elbiow, 6 grandchildren: Brandon King, Krista Dixon, Aaron Strickland, Melody Green, Alex King, Aaron King and eight great grandchildren: Arianna Davis, Tamarrah Davis, Janeva Purvis, Maci Grunewald, LaMyha Dixon, Neveah Dixon, Andrew Dixon, and Jade Green.

Virginia was preceded in death by her sons: Michael Dwayne King, Christopher D McCurtain, and Timothy Lee McCurtain, her father: Buddy Brown, her mother: Evelyn Brown, two brothers: Harold Griffin and Jerry Brown, three sisters: Glenda Brown, Wilma “Sue” Kinkade and Mary Butler, one niece: Stacey Souders, and a great grandson.

Memorial services for Virginia McCurtain will be at 5 pm Friday, February 7, 2025 at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home at 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri with Reverend Ionel Popa officiating.
