Vera Pfeifer

Vera Merrigan Pfeifer, 91, Springfield, passed away at 8:10 a.m on June 24, 2006 in St. John's Regional Health Center.

She was born on June 12, 1915 in Clyde, MO. to Wm. and Rose (Schielbush) Merrigan.

Vera was employed by Citizen's State Bank in Maryville for 25 years. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club, St. Gregory's Ladies Guild and the Business & Professional Women's Organization. She retired in 1985 to Springfield, MO., where she became a volunteer at St. John's Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Favorite pastimes were playing bridge and rose gardening. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, all who loved her dearly.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Pfeifer and two sons, Capt. Bill Pfeifer and Kieran L. Pfeifer. She leaves her children, C. Sue Massman and husband, John , Kansas City, Phyllis Wilcox and husband, Carl, Springfield, and Jack Pfeifer and wife, Lynn, Des Moines, Ia., Dorothy Kay Hamilton and husband, Ken, Springfield, MO., Dan Pfeifer and wife Ann, Maryville, MO., and Marcia Scott and husband,Tom, Lebanon, MO.; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Merrigan and wife Rosalie, two brothers-in-law, Col. Francis Henggeler and Norbert Walters.

Visitation will be between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. today, June 25, 2006 with Rosary at 4:30 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, Springfield, MO. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tues, June 27, 2006 in St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville, MO. Rosary service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday , June 26 in the church. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO.
