Jeanne Gilliam, 83 passed away Friday evening August 12, 2011 in her home.
Jeanne was born Oct. 26, 1927 in West Plains, Mo. to James Ellis and Otie (Weatherly) Riggs. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jeanne was a proud member and House Mother of the Alpha Chi Omega Soroity from 1997 to 2008. She was a former board member of the South Central Rehabilitation Center. Jeanne loved to play cards and was an extreme pinochle player.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Anna Joyce Warren and Jim Riggs, and her husband, Cecil S. Gilliam.
She is survived by her three children, Mike Gilliam of West Plains, Missouri, Sam Gilliam of Springfield, Missouri and Gay Juarez of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren Lexie Bourgoin and Jimmy Smith both of Springfield, five step-grandchildren Michael Gregory, Mark Gregory, Pam Simpson all of Harrison, Arkansas, Carrie Lucas of Republic, Missouri and Kyle Collins of Springfield, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Gracie Allen and several step-greatgrandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday August 16, 2011 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 17, 2011 in the funeral home with Rev. William Marler officiating.
Final resting place will be in New Hope Cemetery in Peace Valley, Mo. The family and friends can meet in the Community Room of the Walnut Grove Apartments in West Plains at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 17, 2011 and then go to the cemetery for a 4 p.m. committal service.
