Thomas Peavey

August 6, 1941 — January 5, 2020

Thomas Peavey

Tom was born on August 6, 1941 in Fredonia, NY to Waldo and Dorothy Peavey.

Tom joined the Navy and worked as a jet mechanic on the USS Independence. He and his wife Judith were married in 1976. They travelled extensively throughout the U.S. until they settled in the Ozarks, where they lived and subsisted on a farm outside of Ava, MO for 10 years before moving to Springfield. Tom was larger than life, a man's man with a gentle, giving heart.

Tom is survived and loved by his wife Judith, his children Curt, Dawne, Jon, Shayna and Lauren, their spouses, his many grandchildren, his sister Peg, his cousin Carol, as well as countless friends and family members.

Tom's legacy is in the beautiful homes he remodeled and built, in the furniture and stained glass windows he crafted and, most of all, in the hearts of his family. Tom always told his children that he could "fix anything but a broken heart" and that being their Papa made him the "luckiest guy on two feet".

There will be a celebration of his life at Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield on Thursday, January 9th at 1:00 pm followed by a graveside ceremony at the Temple Israel Cemetery on E. Seminole.

Tom loved music and the Temple Israel community. Donations in Tom Peavey's memory may be made to the Temple Israel Concert Fund, P.O. Box 4284, Springfield, MO 65808.
