Thomas Henderson "Brownie" Brown, Springfield, Mo., was born on August 3, 1917, in Judsonia, Ark., to James and Lenora (Bolding) Brown. He was one of 10 children. He passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 92.
Brownie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mabel; two sons, Sam and Ted and their wives, Barbara and June; one daughter, Dana; one granddaughter, D. D. Hodges; and one sister, Sally Leach of Redding, Calif. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, worked as a candy maker for several years and was employed for 25 years as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. For more than 20 years after retirement he worked for Holt Memorial Chapel and pastored many churches in Northwest Arkansas. Brownie and his wife were charter members of Eagle Heights Baptist Church, Harrison, Ark. For the last ten years they have been members of University Heights Baptist Church.
Visitation will be in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 East Walnut, Springfield, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2. His life will be celebrated with a memorial service under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, in University Heights Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo. Burial and a graveside service will follow at 2 p.m., in Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison, Ark. Memorials may be made to University Heights Baptist Church Youth and Children Ministry.
