Thomas F. Baron, age 75 of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday evening March 25, 2011 on the Annunciation of the Lord in St. John's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born March 7, 1936 in St Louis, MO to Maurice & Olive (Bishop) Baron. At the age of 5 his family moved to Kansas City, MO where he attended St. Francis Xavier and graduated high school from DeLaSalle. He joined the Air Force after high school for 4 years then moved to Springfield, meeting the love of his life, F. Jacqueline "Jackie" Fender. They were united in marriage February 27, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jackie, and his sister Jeanne Smith.
He is survived by his children Michelle Houk, husband David, Angela StJohn, husband Thomas "Tiny", Kevin Baron, wife Marcy and Elaine Cook and husband Loren Cook II all of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Katelyn McClain and husband Preston, Melissa Lamitinia, Quinton & Alex StJohn, Micah Bot, Olivia & McKenna Baron and Hannah & Jacqueline Cook; his sister Janet Hammersmith and husband Norm of Huron OH; close family friends Steve & Kathy Baer of Springfield, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Tom retired from Scurlock Industries after 40 years in the construction sales industry, where he was an active member of the Springfield Contractors Association. He was a Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus St.Anne's Council 698, where he was instrumental in starting the Bingo program and he received his Lifetime Membership this past year.
Tom welcomed everyone in his home and made them feel like family. He has touched many lives and created beautiful memories for all that were lucky enough to know him and will be greatly missed by all. We would especially like to say "Thank You" to all of his doctors and caregivers at St. John's Hospital, many of whom became more like family.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church , 2818 E Bennett with Fr. Fergus Monaghan celebrant and Msgr. Thomas Reidy con-celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E Walnut Street.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday March 28, 2011 in the church with a Rosary service starting at 7 p.m. The casket will be open during visitation.
