Susan Kayleen (Cobb) Powell Heitz

Susan Kayleen (Cobb) Powell Heitz, age 59, passed away peacefully May 1st, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. She was surrounded by those who loved her as she drifted off into “The Great Wide Open”. Susan “Kay” was born to the late Fred and Carol Cobb in Kansas City, MO on November 22, 1957. She left behind a loving and dedicated husband Randy Heitz, two daughters, Robyn Dunlap and husband Melvin “Doc”, Catherine “Lacey” Moore and husband Chuck and one son, Jeffrey Powell. She was blessed with grandchildren, Jesse Moore Robert Cylis Dunlap, and Mykah Melys Dunlap, and recently one great-grandson Harrisen Moore.

She will be forever held tight in the hearts of her mother Donna Cobb, and siblings, Robert “Chris” and his wife Ondrea, John, David and his wife Jennifer, Joseph and his wife JeNelle, sister Mary Pyles and her husband Mike. We all lost our beautiful sister Laura Lohkamp in 2009. She had enough nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews to make your head spin. She loved them all very much!

Susan “Kay” was a master gardener. Her and her husband Randy spent many hours in their yard tending to their flowers and garden. There wasn’t a flower she didn’t like, except a mum. She also took quiet delight in reading and especially loved getting a new cookbook. She loved nature and the outdoors and spent many summers floating on the rivers and winters hunting in the woods.

Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She will be missed by many.

“And though she be but little, she is fierce” – Shakespeare
