Sue Walker left this world at 5:15 p.m. November 19, 2008. She was born July 20, 1955, in Queens, New York, of Italian and Mohawk Indian descent. She quickly became known for her large heart and pessimistic sense of humor. Her passion for adventure and cooking took her all over the country before retiring in Springfield. The self-renowned chef renewed her faith at North National Church of Christ where she met her best friend, Kay Adams, who was by her side up to the day she lost her battle with cancer this past Wednesday. She was 53 years old.
She is living on in the hearts of her mother Jeannette Cook; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Katy Walker; granddaughter Kyrsten Nichole; brothers John and Steve Walker and Norman Vanzandt; sister Linda Shultz; nephews Jason and Jeremy Spragg, Andrew, James and Michael Walker; nieces Katrina Horner, Star Walker and Sky VanZandt; great nieces, Hailey and Abbey Spragg and Tabitha Horner; and literally friends and family that stream from coast to coast.
We mourn the passing of a loving daughter, a strong single mother, a courageous sister, an amazing aunt, a proud new grandmother, and a wonderful friend.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. No visitation is planned. Online condolences can be shared at www.hhlohmeyer.com.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home.
