Sheila Mary Horton passed away peacefully at her home on July 2, 2012. Sheila was born in London, England on July 31, 1926 to Ivan and Mary Holman. She was their only child but was raised in the loving Lancaster-Smith family. During World War II, she met an American soldier, Frank Horton. They were married on December 8th 1944 in Bath and were married for 60 years until Frank passed away. After the war, Frank brought Sheila to the United States where she was welcomed into his large American family. Frank and Sheila were blessed with a large family and they were her world. Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, two of their daughters, Carol and Peggy and many family members in England and here in the United States. She is survived by her children, Betty, Kathleen and Andy Bargo, Dianne Hutchins, John and Kaye. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Hutchins, Justin Hutchins and his wife, Nelda, Clint Bargo and his wife, Sarah, Lindsey (Bargo) Smith and her husband, Barry, Amanda Bargo and her fiancée, Adam Goddard, and Deidra, Nick and Alisha Horton. She also had great-grand-children, Cain and Ella Bargo, Trent, Dane and Easton Smith, Jossie Hutchins, Jackson Horton and Quentin Muenks. She leaves behind her family members in England and all of her Horton family here.
Visitation will be Thursday night, July 5th from 6:00-8:00 pm in Herman Lohmeyer Chapel. Prayer service will begin at 6:00. Funeral mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00.
