Sharon Sue (Bjorklund) Smith 69 of Springfield passed away Friday Aug. 3, 2012 in Brookhaven nursing center. She was born September 22, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Sharon was a long time member and devout Christian of The Methodist Church she joined in the 1960's. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield for many years. She was active in her Sunday school class where she was once the class President. She was a very active member in the Mary Lee King women's circle as program director. She played an active role in Wesley's Wednesday night meals as Secretary and volunteer coordinator. Sharon with her upbeat, can do, attitude was also the catalog sales center training coordinator at Bass Pro Shops for 12 years. Sharon was a very positive person and an accomplished public speaker. Sharon met her husband Al in Oklahoma City in 1958 and they were married June 22, 1959 in Gainesville TX.
Sharon was preceded in death by her Grandparents Gretchen (Mummsey) & Harwell (Papa) Heare of Oklahoma City, OK. Her Father Arlin Bjorklund and Stepmother Rose Bjorklund of Indianapolis IN. Her mother Dorothy Ann Monroe and Step Father Richard Monroe of Tulsa OK. Two Aunts Virginia & Nancy. One Uncle Harwell Jr. of Oklahoma City. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Alfred L. Smith of Springfield. Her two Sons Daniel A. Smith and his partner Jim Arndt of Billings. Paul A. Smith and his wife Tina Smith of Springfield. Four grandchildren Anthony Rotramel & his wife Taylor of Nixa, Brittany Smith of Springfield, Aaron Rotramel of Springfield and Martina Francka of Springfield. One Great Grandchild Kinsley Paige Rotramel of Nixa. Her Brother Scott Monroe and wife Brenda of Broken Arrow, OK and their Daughter Lyndsey. Cousins Susan Smith of TX, Robert Heare & wife Carolyn of TX, and their children Darin Heare and wife Jill of TX, and their children Matthew & Elizabeth. Stephanie Rogers and husband Darren of KY, and their son Davis. Also her adopted grandson Trystan Fanning.
Mother you have been so ill and in such pain for so long now you can rest. We hurt in our hearts and will for time to come. Our only solace is knowing that you had a true and precious love for our Lord Jesus Christ. We know you walk by his side with your infectious smile and hurt no more. You are surely one of his precious angels now and may we feel your wings around us until we meet again on those streets of gold in God's most wonderful heaven.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 8, 2012 in Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Massey and Dr. Bruce Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilean Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm Tuesday in the church.
