Setsuko Johnson 76, Springfield, passed away at 12:30 PM Tuesday, December 4th, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri in her home.
Setsuko was born October 28, 1948 in Makiminato, Urasoe Shi, Okinawa, Japan to Angi and Kamado Kinjo.
Setsuko valued hard work and she worked very hard. She worked for 13 years in the Food Service industry for Missouri State University (formerly SMSU). She enjoyed her work serving college students meals and assisting them in the Blair-Shannon Cafeteria. She was loved there not only by the college students, but also her co-workers who became her lifelong friends.
Setsuko loved karaoke, dancing, joking with friends, and helping others. She had a great sense of humor and a gregarious laugh. She was a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children, and doting on her grandchildren. She supported her family with the care she put into making meals, washing clothes, and keeping things tidy. She was proud of her family and loved attending their sports practices, games, and performances.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Yasuki Kinjo.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Johnson; her children, Richard Douglas, Jacquie Douglas, and Kathy Oettle; stepchildren, Shirley Johnson, Linda Johnson, and Thomas Robert Johnson II; her grandchildren, Gavin Devic, Te’a Jester, and June Oettle; brother, Yasunobu Kinjo, Yasunori Kinjo; sisters, Keiko Worley and Noriko Hamagawa.
Visitation will take place at Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield, MO, on Friday, January 03, 2025, 5:00-6:00 pm CT. The funeral service will be directly after at 6:00pm, also at Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
Setsuko is now at peace and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
