Selma Rydberg Dingus was born on a farm in Wheatland, Wyoming on November 15, 1914. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Secretarial Science at Oregon State University in 1940. Selma became the Head Secretary for the Sociology and English departments at Oregon State and also California State Fullerton, retiring in 1978.
Selma married William Larson on January 12, 1941, and helped work their Oregon Farm. Selma had four children by William before his death in 1947. John E. Dingus and Selma married in 1950 and had one child. In 1972, Selma was widowed again in Fullerton, California.
Selma spent the next twenty years devoting herself to loving and helping raise each of her grandchildren, living with her daughter Linda's family from age 83 until her passing. She remained an active senior through her 80's as a beloved mother and grandmother.
On October 2, 2009, Selma passed from this life to eternal life with her Lord and Savior. She leaves behind five children, Margaret Van Camp of Halfway, Missouri; Ken Larson of California; Sylvia Larson of Utah; Linda Orthman of Ozark, Missouri; and Karen Mace of Ohio; as well as 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also, three siblings, Charles Dillon of Billings, Montana; Dennis Dillon of Houston, Texas; and Josephine Miller of Denver, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Michael and Hildur Nellie Rydberg Dillon, a brother, Ira Dillon, and a sister, Dorothy Boldman.
She is loved and missed by all.
