Sandra Layton

Sandy Layton of Springfield, MO. died Saturday, September 22, 2012. She was born in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Ruth and Phil Thorpe.
Sandy attended Iowa State University and then worked for Avon for many years. Later she worked for Yellow Page Sales. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was an avid lover of dogs and cats.
Sandy had many diverse interests. She was a member of The Springfield Orchid Society, Springfield Garden Society, The Fun Runners Car Club and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Sandy was married to Cecil Layton. They shared a love of the Adult Sunday School and the Choir at Wesley Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Cecil, her brother, Steve (Liz) Denver, IA, and her sister, Pat Dolliver of Kansas City.
She was a great friend to the many who knew her. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Wesley Methodist.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 29, 2012 in Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Massey officiating under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
Memorial visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the services on Saturday in the church.
