Ryne Shea Millsap, 24, entered into eternal life on July 6, 2013. Born on August 29, 1988, Ryne has lived in Springfield all of his life. He attended Immaculate Conception School, Catholic High, 3 Rivers Junior College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Missouri State University. He and his family are members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield.
Ryne’s memory will always be cherished by: his mother, Tami Reed and step-father, Alan Reed; brother, Levi Millsap; father, Mack Millsap, grandmother, Ellie Widmer, grandfather, Marvin Widmer and wife, Debbie; grandfather Bill Millsap; aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
Ryne has been an athlete all his life. In his early years, he was a competitive swimmer at the National level. He was on basketball teams, bowling teams, and baseball teams. But baseball is where he truly excelled and was ranked among the top pitchers in the area. Unfortunately, it all ended early with a shoulder injury; rehabilitation was unsuccessful and surgery came too late. Ryne suffered pain the rest of his life.
Ryne volunteered at the Missouri Hotel for many years. He visited in Ghana, West Africa, bringing hundreds of Christmas gifts and befriending many people there who have developmental disabilities. In recent years, he volunteered at Abilities First, where his grandmother works with individuals who have
developmental disabilities.
A Mass in celebration of Ryne’s life was officiated by Monsignor Tom Reidy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on July 12th.
Those wishing to honor Ryne’s life by donating to his favorite charity: Friends of Abilities First, 1317 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65810. Attn. Tracey Brink.
The family wishes to thank the hundreds of people who have extended concern and condolences to them. God bless you all!
