Ruth Munday

Mrs. Ruth L. Munday, 92 of Springfield passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 in St. John's Hospital.

Ruth was born Dec. 12, 1916 in Bates County, Mo. to James and Lena (Argenbreit) Hook. She moved to Columbia, Mo. in 1924, where she later attended Stephens College. Ruth was married June 1, 1937 to Gerald W. Munday who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1985. Mrs. Munday was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Twin Oaks Country Club, Decorative Arts of SMMA, bridge clubs and golf associations. She also volunteered for 12 years at Springfield Baptist Hospital, 11 years for Meals on Wheels, the Education Committee of Goals for Springfield and also assisted her husband in home office for Josten's.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three children and her husband. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Lynn Munday; two grandchildren, Courtney and Colby Munday; five nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun, Mo. No visitation is planned.
