Ruth Clark

Ruth Esther “Duck” Clark, departed this life on February 13, 2022 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

She was born on September 18, 1950 in Forrest City, Arkansas, one of six children, to the union of Abraham L. Clark, Sr. and Ernestine Holland Clark. The Clark family moved to Springfield, Missouri around 1955.

Ruth “Duck” Clark was preceded in death by her parents, father, Abraham L. Clark, Sr., mother, Ernestine Holland Clark, her brothers, Samuel L. Clark, Ernest C. Clark, and Homer Clark.

Ruth resided with her sister, Elizabeth (Gail) Clark Moore, in Springfield, Missouri for about 19 years.

Ruth leaves to treasure her memories, one son, Jamie Clark of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Demeisha Newlon of Springfield, Missouri, Chris Newlon of Republic, Missouri, Jordan Clark of Florida, Chelsa Clark of Georgia and Brianna Howard of Arkansas; Nine great grandchildren; her sister Elizabeth (Gail) Clark Moore of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Abraham L. Clark, Jr., and Tomlin of Willard, Missouri, Cluster P. Clark and Blondie of Nashville, Tennessee; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ruth Clark was known by everyone as “Duck”, never met a stranger, and was a friend to all she met. She would go out of her way to help anyone. She was also very tough and wouldn’t hesitate to set you straight or speak her mind. “Duck” was an artist, loved cooking, flowering, watching wrestling, soaps, and always made you laugh.

Visitation will be held for Ruth Ester Clark from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri where her Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am. The burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. A Repast will follow from 12:30pm- 1:00pm at the DAV, located at 2525 E Division, Springfield, MO. We would like to thank everyone in advance for their contributions, donations, thoughts, and prayers during this time.
