Roy Long

Roy T. Long, 81 of Springfield formerly of Bella Vista, Ark. passed away at 11:25 p.m. Monday April 7, 2008 in Cox Hospital South..

Roy was born April 25, 1926 in Middletown, New York to Harry and Thelma (Laird) Long. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on board the LST 917. Mr. Long was commander of VFW post in Northwest Arkansas and also served as a member of an Honor Guard Team. He was a District Director of AARP.

He is survived by his three sons, John Long and his wife Trudy of Springfield, James Long and his wife Marlene of Rogers, Arkansas and Jason Long and his fiancee, Tonya of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Chad, Tara, Griffin, Trevor, Brittany, Stephanie, Zach and four great grandchildren, Hannah, Evann, Kody and Jase.

A Memorial Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel with Msgr. Thomas Reidy celebrant under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Committal services with military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
