Roy Wayne Bruner, 87, Springfield, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Sunday February 23, 2014 in Mercy Hospital after a long illness.
Roy was born in Byesville, Ohio to Joseph, Jr. and Margaret (Blackburn) Bruner. He was a veteran of World War II, joining the US Navy in 1944. Roy served on the USS Kitty Hawk, and he later retired from the USS Forrestal. Roy loved the Lord, his family, fishing, hunting and playing cards. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Bruner; and daughter, Debbie Herman.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, W. Trudy Bruner; daughter, Eva Fultz, and her husband Travis; son, Andy Breece, and his wife Michele; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Memorial graveside services with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd. Springfield, Mo under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
