Robert Alfred Busen, 93, Springfield, passed away on Thursday, June 27 2013.
He was born on June 24, 1920 in St. Louis, MO to Floyd and Anna Busen. He married Alice Margaret Hill March 10, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the US Navy from 1941-1945. He spent his time in WWII as a motor machinist mate and manning the boats 20mm cannon in the Philippines and Aleutians. Bob built, owned and operated Arrowhead Resort at Table Rock Lake alongside his wife and children while he ran a custom home construction company. He is a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Bob was an enthusiastic cyclist and kayaker, he enjoyed all his days "At the dock" on Table Rock Lake and traveling the US with Alice in their RV prior to her death. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and his active lifestyle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and son, Robert Jr. Bob is survived by his children, Linda Correll and her husband Rick of Springfield, Kathy Busen of Nixa, Michael Busen and his wife Jennifer of Kimberling City; his three grandchildren, Jeffrey Correll and his wife Cara, Melissa Mayo and her husband Scott and Bryce Busen; and his great granddaughter, Claira Alice Correll and his sister, Virginia Block of O’Fallon, Mo.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, July 1 from 6:30 to 8 pm in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, July 2 at noon in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2200 W. Republic Road. Inurnment with military honors following Mass in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, MO.
