Richard Bertalott, 91, of Springfield, died Sunday night May 12, 2013, surrounded by family.
Richard was born May 6, 1922 to John and Victoria Bertalott of Monett, MO. As a sergeant in the United States Air Corps, he served in Europe during WWII. Richard retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Springfield Host Lions Club, serving as past president.
He started another chapter in his life on October 3, 1946 when he married Nadean, his loving wife of 57 years until her death in October of 2003. They were blessed with 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Bertalott, and son-in-law, Dennis Burk. He is survived by his children, Jenny Burk, Lake St. Louis, MO, Debbie (Richard) Short, Mount Juliet, TN, Richard Bertalott, Jr., Kansas City, MO, Nora (Dennis) Massoth, Corydon, KY, and David Bertalott, Vicki (Chris) Craig, Tim (Sharon) Bertalott, Mark (Leslie) Bertalott, and Tom (Melissa) Bertalott, all of Springfield, MO. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his life was centered around his love of God and family.
Visitation will be held Thursday May 16, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary service to follow at 7 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday May 17, 2013 in St. Agnes Cathedral with Father Mike McDevitt celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
