Reuben Harris

Reuben Earl Harris was born in Brewster, Kansas on October 1, 1928, the son of Issac Abner and Jenny Elizabeth (Allison) Harris. Reuben was raised in Fort Dodge, Kansas area. Reuben loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with all his family and friends on the Taneycomo and Bull Shoals lakes. He married his beloved wife, Doris, of 50 years in 1948. Reuben worked for 20th Century Fox studios, the youngest manager in history. He later worked as an electrician for 30 years.

To his marriage was born two children, Richard Eugene Harris, who passed away August 4, 1954 and Ronald Dean Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgal Eugene Harris and Francis Charles Harris; wife, Doris Lorraine (Pflieger) Harris; and son, Richard Eugene Harris.

Reuben is survived by his son, Ronald Dean Harris, Springfield, MO; brother, Chester Harris and wife Lois of Amarillo, TX; two nephews, Larry Harris and wife Claudia, Amarillo, TX and Terry Harris and wife Anna, of Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Lisa Harris McGehee and husband Dee of Amarillo, TX; other great nieces and great nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday December 16, 2011 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. Springfield, MO.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday December 19, 2011 in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice, 1570 W. Battlefield, Suite 110, Springfield, MO 65807.
