Pearl Leatrice Spradlin, age 92, left this life in the early morning hours of March 24, 2021 after a short unexpected illness, from the comfort of her home of 63 years in Springfield, Missouri, with daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Pearl was born in Laredo, Texas to parents Frank A. McKinnis and Maria de Jesus Villareal November 15, 1928. She has two brothers, Frank and Larry McKinnis. She graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School in Laredo 1946.
Pearl met and married her husband, Loren Spradlin who she met at a military dance while he was stationed in Laredo, Texas. They moved to Springfield Missouri and had 3 children; Lorene Claire, Kenneth Lee and Julie Anne. They owned and operated Spradlin Fruit Markets in Springfield until 1982.
Pearl is a member of St. Agnes parish and was very involved over the years in volunteer work through church and school. Enjoyed working the school lunchroom, teaching Spanish to 2nd grade students, St Vincent de Paul, The Kitchen, Crosslines, Grupo Latino and translating for the local jail and courts.
After her husband's passing Pearl became a personal Caregiver for many residents at the Cambridge Retirement Community, which was very fulfilling to her and a blessing to the many she assisted. Most often working 7-7, 7 days a week, for the next 27 years, until unhappily retired at age 84!
Pearl is survived by her daughter Claire and husband Milton Dill (Houston, Tx.), son Kenny and partner Claire Bergeron (New Mexico), daughter Julie and husband Bryan Lawson (Springfield Mo), 8 Grandchildren which are her pride and joy,
Levon Spradlin, Lotus Rain, Andrew Dill, Alisa Dill, Jordan Spradlin-Lawson, Lauren Skye Lawson, Indra Rio Spradlin, Eva Guadalupe Spradlin, and 2 Great Grandchildren Ariana and Stefan Spradlin.
Visitation will be Sunday March 28, 2021 from 3-4 pm at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday March 29, 2021 at St. Agnes Cathedral, 533 S. Jefferson Avenue in Springfield with Father Allen Kirchner officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo.
