Paul Raymond Sweeton, 67, Springfield, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1938 in Long Beach, California to Clyde and Geneva (Johnston) Sweeton. He was married to Marilyn Hendrick on February 23, 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jack Sweeton. Paul was known and admired for his thoughtful gestures and inspiring passion for life, but above all he was respected for the steadfast love and devotion he gave to his family. As a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and loyal friend he will be dearly missed. Paul is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son and his wife, Greg and Laura Sweeton, Battlefield, MO, and daughter and her husband, Julie and Brad Vaughan, Springfield; one grandson, Nathan Vaughan; three siblings, James Sweeton and his wife, Kent, Chicago, IL, Esther Hamm and her husband, John, Lookout Mountain, GA, and Philip Bair, Jasper, AL; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2005, in Wesley United Methodist Church with The Rev. James Sweeton officiating. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery, Rogersville, MO, under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time in the church.
