Niley Allan (Al) Louiselle (91), born June 22nd, 1933, passed away July 31st, 2024 with his wife, Betty, nearby.
Al grew up in Charlevoix, Michigan, the son of Niley and Louisa Louiselle, developing passions for football, fishing, and working on cars. He joined the Air Force after high school, serving during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. As an aircraft mechanic, Al worked on B-52 bombers, training in jet engines--electrical, radar, navigation, hydraulics, and pneumatics--to become a crew chief responsible for the plane’s launch preparation and recovery. He married Betty and became a father to five children during these years, teaching them the values of love, respect, and faith. After 20 years of military service, Al retired with distinction, receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. The family moved to Springfield, Missouri and joined Wesley United Methodist Church where Al remains a member.
Al continued his lifelong learning trajectory, leading to work as a quality control inspector at Mueller’s stainless-steel processing and equipment company, and then employment at the Springfield, Missouri air traffic control tower. He worked there as a navigational and facility maintenance mechanic, earning various Federal Aviation Administration certifications, including in high voltage cable splicing, diesel engine generators, DC battery backup substation power systems, and refrigeration. Al also built a workshop where he pursued master hobbyist woodworking, building doll houses, marionette puppets, and trains and cars for the grandchildren, as well as cedar chests, quilt racks, and tables for his children and his own home. He got a sixteen-foot-deep V aluminum fishing boat and spent as much time as possible fishing. Al’s family and neighbors also enjoyed the fruits of his labor from his prolific vegetable garden. In January of 2000, Al retired a second time, allowing for more travel with Betty , including trips to Maui, Florida, the Phoenix area, and the trip of their lifetime to Alaska where they spent weeks hiking.
Al is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Louise, Barbara, and Jackie.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes Betty, his wife of 71 years; his brother, Dick Louiselle (Sue); children, Roxanne Parrott (John), Rick Louiselle (Song), Cyndi Ingenthron (Chandis), Tammy Brown (Ed), and Karen Wiser
(David); grandchildren, Ben Parrott (Beth), Joy Smith (Jordan), Dan Louiselle (Katie), Jason Brown (Renee), and Sijae Brown, Chris Wiser (Erin), Caity Wiser; and great grandchildren, Grace and Sam Parrott, Elle Smith, Easton Louiselle, and Twyla Brown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
