Milton L. Schorp, 90, of Springfield, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in The Maples Care Center. He was born May 11, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri to August and Hilda Schorp. He served in the Navy in World War II as a Seabee, stationed in the Phillipines. When he returned to the States, he joined the St. Louis Fire Department, working at House #20, House # 5, then at the Lambert Field Airport on the Crash Crew. He was married to Doris Schmidt on April 27, 1950. In 1971, he and Doris moved to Kimberling City where they operated Arrowhead Resort. After selling the resort, Milt worked at Silver Dollar City in construction.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter, Meagan Annette Murdaugh. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Denise Schorp, Dianne Murdaugh (Steve), and Lynn Wunderlich (Paul); grandchildren, Andy Murdaugh (Portland), Holly Ferrell (Tim), Heidi Champ (Joel), Ted Wunderlich (Katy) and Emily Wunderlich; great-grandchildren, Maya Murdaugh, Isabelle, Isaiah and Evelyn Champ, Charlotte and Sam Wunderlich; a sister, Ethel Peterson, St. Louis; and nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Bailey-Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic, Mo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
