Mildred A. Starkey, age 94, died on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at St. John's Mercy Villa in Springfield.
Mildred was born on July 26, 1915 in Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Tory) Tomjack.
She married Harry E. Starkey in Oct. of 1946. He preceded her in death in Feb. of 1988. Her son, Terry Dean Starkey also preceded her in Sept. of 2000.
She is survived by one brother, Leroy Tomjack of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Marcella Cameron of Chambers, Nebraska; four children, Catherine Birkenbach and family of Monett, Mo., Frank Starkey of Nakomis, Florida, Dan Starkey and family of Amarillo, Texas, Jim Starkey and family of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; four granddaughters, two grandsons and one great-grandson.
There will be a rosary service at 7 p.m. Wednesday June 23, 2010 with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1609 N. Summit Springfield. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Catholic Schools or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
