Michael Turk

Michael Benjamin Turk, age 57, of Springfield Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 15th, 2024.

He was born July 20th, 1966, in Vallejo California, the son of Frank Turk and Judith Ruhland.

Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. on November 17th, 1985, in Oakland California. He served for just over four years before he was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal on December 24th, 1989. During his services to our country, he received two Rifle Expert Badges, a Good Conduct Award, and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

After completion of his military service, Michael settled in Riverside California.

In 1992, while acting as the Best Man at a coworkers wedding, another guest caught his eye and eventually his heart. On September 4th, 1993, that guest, Lisa, and Michael were married. Around that time Michael wanted a career, so he enrolled in truck driving school. He drove locally in California for a few years before he and Lisa moved their family to Springfield, Missouri.

For 22 years, Michael worked for Joplin based CFI, accumulating over 2.5 million safe miles along with multiple other awards and many praises from dispatchers and customers for his calm demeanor and gentle spirit.

Michael and his family are members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ozark Missouri, where he enjoyed participating in the Men’s Bible Study group and helping maintain the church grounds.

Michael is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa; daughter, Sarah; son, Travis; mother, Judith; father, Frank; his stepmother, three siblings, Richard, Eric, and Regina; one nephew, Ryan, and other extended family and many dear friends who became family.
