Michael Sullivan

July 22, 1936 — November 25, 2008

Michael Sullivan

Our dad, Michael Anthony Sullivan, was born on July 22, 1936 in Springfield Mo. Mike had been in declining health for the last five years and passed away peacefully on November 25, 2008 in his home.

A graduate of St. Agnes High School he served in the U.S. Navy in Hawaii where he and our mother, Nancy, lived the first year of their 50-year-long marriage. Many people knew dad as a cabinet maker at Zenith where he worked for many years. During that time he returned to school at Drury University and went on to become an addiction counselor for Lakes Country Rehabilitation Center and the Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland.

However. his favorite job was that of "Dad" and later "De-dad". Rarely did he miss a game, play practices or any event that involved his kids. Always supportive and encouraging he always had time to listen and a funny story to tell.

A charter member of Holy Trinity parish, he currently was a parishioner of St. Agnes Cathedral Parish. He was a member of Holy Spirit Council of the Knights of Columbus and past member of the KC Fourth Degree Honor Guard. He was also an active member of the Seniors Unlimited group at St. Agnes.

Michael is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann, his children and their families: Shelly and Nick Nuessle of Kansas City; Sarah Sullivan, of Springfield; and Tink and Glinda Sullivan of St. Louis. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Peggie and Bill Schmidt. Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Pat and Jerry.

Mike will also be missed by his eleven grandchildren:, Mara, Kellye, Natalie, Scott, Todd, Shawn, Kelli, Jeremiah, Jedidiah, Kiah, and Aliah.

Mass of Resurrection will be held at St Agnes Cathedral, Monday, December 1, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home on Sunday, November 30 from 6:00-7:00p.m. with Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Committal services will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery on Tuesday, December 2.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to St. John's Hospice, Fr. Bob Landewe, dad's weekly respite care companion, and all those who brought Communion, meals and prayerful support to our dad and mom during these past eleven months. You made the final days of his life here with us one of grace and many blessings.
