Michael Lamar “Mick” Dunn, 56, of Springfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born November 15, 1967, in Pottstown, PA, the son of Norma Jean (Woodley) and Gary Dunn. He grew up in Parkerford, PA and graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1985.
Mick served 8 years in the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive. As a former Legionnaire for Vietnam War Memorial Post #639 in Springfield, Missouri, he served in many offices including Member at Large, Judge Advocate, 2nd Vice Commander, 1st Vice Commander, Commander, Director and Charter member of the American Legion Riders, Chapter 639. He served the 17th District on numerous committees and commissions to include Sr. Vice Commander, District 17 Commander, and Zone 3 Sergeant at Arms. Mick also served with the Legion Riders, Foreign Relations, POW/MIA, and Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation committees for the Department. Active in his community, he was a member of the Selective Service Board for Greene County, Ozarks Honor Flight Board as a veteran’s advisor, past President of the Springfield Jaycees, State Officer of the Patriot Guard Riders, State Captain of the Pony Express Riders and VSO advocate to the Springfield City Council. He was also actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life. In the last few years, he proudly worked as an ASE Certified Master Mechanic and was always willing to help those in need. For all those who knew him, he was an avid Eagles fan, to say the least. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind two brothers, Richard and wife Deanna Dunn, and Charles Dunn; three sisters, Tiffany and husband Christopher Mauger, Sharon and husband Shawn Leister, and Aliza Dunn; four nieces, Alexandra, Gabrielle, Amber, and Justice; three nephews, Kyle, Damian, and Alex; two adored great-nephews, Adam and Charlie; and his beloved dog, Nina.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Richard Dunn at 48 Country Ln. Pottstown, PA 19465, on Saturday August 24th. Family and friends are welcome to stop by between 1pm-5pm.
Full military services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Rd. Springfield, MO 65804, on Friday August 30th at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans, 2525 E. Division St., Springfield, MO 65803.
