Michael Aaron Clawson, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, went home to go be with Jesus on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Mike was born on October 22, 1938 in Springfield, Missouri, to Aaron and Peggy (Clanton) Clawson. He graduated from Central High School. Mike married Barbara Ann Ikenroth on July 19, 1958. To this marriage, three daughters; Cindy, Becky, and Amy were born.
Mike’s first job was a paperboy. On his route, he met the love of his life, Barbara, who he affectionately called “Butchie.” He spent most of his work career at Springfield News-Leader. Later in life, he felt called to preach. Mike touched many lives through his faith. He was a Sunday School teacher and youth leader throughout the years.
Mike enjoyed music, photography, gardening, traveling, and food. He found great joy in being with family and friends. You could count on him being at any type of event to cheer on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was also there in seasons of need and sorrow. He was at the ready to provide counsel and support. Most of all, you knew you were covered in prayer.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Peggy Clawson; his sister, Pat Scott; his granddaughter, Stephanie Evans; and his son-in-law, Roger Hart.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Cindy Hart and partner JB, Becky (Mike) White, and Amy (John) Fielder; his grandchildren, Nathan (Kira), Justin (Rachel), Seth, Addison and partner Jess, Maggie and fiancé Brandon, and Emily (Mikey); his great-grandchildren, Zach and partner Hailey, Abbi, Kealie, JP, Camden, Taylor, Mason, and Ellie; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation made to an organization of your choice.
At Mike’s request, there will be no service. He asks that you remember him as happy, joking, and the faith-filled person that he was.
