Mary Anita Robinson..."Mickey" passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield early Monday morning on Nov. 25, 2024 at the age of 84. She is survived by her husband of 10 years...Markel Robinson. Her sons John Howard and his wife Julie and Tim Howard...her daughter Michele Wilder....and her grandchildren Heather Kearney and Sarah Kearney...Crystal Howard....Jesse Howard and Jared Howard...Tacoma Shirley...Seth Flood and Christian Shirk and Ashlyn Shirk...and Sierra Woods...and 13 great grandchildren. Mickey was preceded in death by her oldest son Michael Kearney.
Mickey was born at Barnes Hospital in St Louis to Highland and Nellie Oney...their only child. Her father called her "Mickey" right away. She grew up in Southwest Missouri and settled in Springfield after moving from Chicago where she worked at Mars Candy for a number of years. In Springfield Mickey worked at St John's...Creekside Manor...and at Taco Bell where she would eventually retire. Mickey was a people person and her smile would charm you immediately. She also had a way of telling you what she really thought about something and didn't mince words. Mickey was an avid reader and at one time did a lot of crocheting. She enjoyed watching the birds...especially the hummingbirds. She liked to shop at the Salvation Army and that's where she reconnected with her husband. She liked to dance a little and sing the old classics she grew up with. Mickey was a longtime member of Grant Ave Free Will Baptist church where she sung in the choir and married her husband who cared for her the last five years as her health slowly declined.
Mickey will be buried with her mom at Manley Cemetery on Saturday December 7, 2024 at 11:30 am. The family thanks Mickey's friends for their love and support through our time of sorrow.
