Mary “Nan” Galloway passed away in her home July 1st, from a four year battle of renal failure, and a rare Miller Fisher Syndrome with her husband by her side.
Born on July 2, 1933 in Springfield, Missouri to Fred and Fern (Archer) Galloway. She graduated from Strafford high school, and attended Drury University. She was owner and operator of Nan’s Hallmark in Poplar Bluff, Missouri before returning to Springfield, and retiring from SW Bell Telephone in 1995. Nan had a beautiful voice and sang at many weddings, and funerals in her youth. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed keeping up with current events and politics. She loved to travel, especially Europe, and the Caribbean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her Aunt Grace Brake, and her first husband Kenneth Mann. She is survived by her husband Dan Goodwin, one stepson Mark Goodwin, his partner Sharon Choate, 5 step grandchildren, one great grandson, her sister-in-law Mrs. Linda Hall of Illinois, brother-in-law Jerry Goodwin of Kentucky, brother-in law William Goodwin of Texas, brother-in-law Wayne Goodwin of Illinois, cousin Bill Fondren of Texas, their spouses, and her beloved Bichon Frises, Daisy, and Boo Boo.
Per her request the body will be cremated and no services. The family request donations to the Springfield Public Library, or any no kill pet facility. The Family would like to thank all the wonderful staff from Hospice Compasses, and especially her wonderful aide Connie Jensen.
