Mary Kay Markwardt, 66 of Springfield, MO died after a short illness in Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO on September 7, 2023.
The daughter of Joseph "Mel" and Geraldine "Jerry" Anselm was born in St. Charles, MO on October 29, 1956. She grew up in Springfield, MO and graduated from Glendale High School. After graduation she moved with her parents to Fenton, MO where she met and married her future husband, John Markwardt on April 21, 1979.
They lived in several different cities and settled in Tampa, FL where they raised their son, Charles Joseph (CJ) Markwardt. They divorced and she moved with CJ back to Springfield, MO to live with her parents. With Mary Kay's help her parents were able to live in their home until their passing.
Mary Kay worked in the telemarketing field for many years and at the time of her death she was working at Price Cutter in Springfield, MO. She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies, spending time with her dog, and anyone that knew Mary Kay knew her passion was watching QVC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel & Jerry Anselm, her brother, Dick Anselm and her ex-husband, John Markwardt. She is survived by her son, CJ and wife Jessica Markwardt, Land O Lakes, FL; granddaughter, Paige Markwardt, Land O Lakes, FL; grandson, Benjamin Markwardt, Land O Lakes, FL; and sister, Carolyn and husband, Bruce Fetter, Springfield, MO.
