Mary Irene (Healy) Brotherhood, born in Stratford, CT on August 26, 1919, passed away Friday November 26, 2010 in Springfield, Missouri.

She was the daughter of the late Stephen Francis and Susan Gertrude (Hoeschele) Healy and was the wife of the late Cecil R. Brotherhood. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Johana (Healy) Bickley.

Mary attended St. Charles School and graduated cum laud from Warren G. Harding High School, Bridgeport, CT. She was employed by Remington Arms there before raising her daughters.

After moving to St. Louis, she became an active Girl Scouts' volunteer for her daughters' troops and taught knitting and crocheting expertly for many years at businesses such as Famous-Barr. She delighted in volunteering at the Fox Theater and enjoyed retail work in several crafts' shops.

She is survived by daughters, Susan M. Ehrhart, Hillsboro, Mary Lou Brotherhood and husband, Jim Wygant, with whom she lived in Springfield, and granddaughter, Kelly (Ehrhart) Hopfer, husband, Mike and great-grandson, Chalin G. Swacker, and grandson, Brian C. Ehrhart, Hillsboro and step-daughter, Delores (Brotherhood) Marranzino and husband, Al, Stratford, Ct, and her special caregiver, Dorothy High.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 in St. Agnes Cathedral under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the Mass in the church.

Burial will be at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday November 30, 2010 in Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri.
