Marvin Lavaughn Thompson, 83, Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday morning, September 10, 2013 in Woodland Manor, Springfield, MO.
He was born October 31, 1929 in Arbyrd, MO to Emerson and Gewren (McAfee) Thompson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force for 14 years and also owned and operated Comic Empire in Springfield, MO.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Heather Grootens and his brother, Dwight Thompson.
Survivors include his wife Tamara Thompson, children, Susan Procter and Lori VanHorn, all of Springfield, MO, Angela Potter of New Haven, CT, Marylay Tillison of Griffin, GA and Francine Lee of Jonesboro, GA, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his sister, Judy Kay Freeman of Springfield, MO.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:00 AM Friday, September 13, 2013 in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Graveside services with full military honors and interment will follow at 11:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
