Mark Van Giesen

Mark Raymond Van Giesen, Springfield, Missouri, age 74, passed away April 29 after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. Mark was born on January 30, 1948, in Davenport, IA, the 4th son of Rev. Raymond and Esther (Schulz) Van Giesen. Mark graduated from Normandy Senior High School, St. Louis Mo. in 1967. He worked for Suttle Apparatus in Lawrenceville, Ill, from 1970 - 1986 and for Perdue Foods in Washington, Ind. from 1987 to 2006. In 2007, Mark made the decision to move to Springfield, MO, to be near family. Mark loved watching Cardinal baseball games on TV and fishing on Table Rock Lake on his sister and brother in-law’s pontoon. Mark is survived by three brothers, David (Priscilla) Van Giesen Springfield, MO, Duane (Lana) Van Giesen Plano, TX. Richard (Barb) Van Giesen Springfield, IL, one sister, Connie (Bob) Bruner Springfield, MO, his sister in-law Angela Van Giesen Pierce, Springfield, MO,his niece, Nicole Van Giesen, his nephew, Robert Van Giesen (Kristen), three great nieces, Ashton Rone, Shaw McVety, Sutton Rose Van Giesen and one great nephew Duncan McVety. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Van Giesen and one niece, Lori (Van Giesen) Thompson.

Mark’s interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Marionville, MO, next to his parents at a later date. The family would like to thank the staffs of Fresenius Medical Care, The Gardens Senior Living, and The Neighbors of Quail Creek, Springfield, MO for their love and care of Mark. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 (www.kidneyfund.org) in Mark's name or to a charity of the donor's choice.
