Mark Anthony Slaughter, 56, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012, after a short battle with cancer.
Mark was born in Springfield, MO, on December 12, 1955. He attended Central High School, as well as SMSU.
He was involved with The Boys Club, coached games and took children on field trips. He worked at ACME Brick for many years where he learned to drive a tractor trailer from good friend Dave Roberts, which lead to Mark buying his own truck, seeing many states, and telling many stories. He retired from driving due to a disability and became an active gardener and helped neighbors and friends with odd jobs.
Mark is survived by his true best friend, love and mate, Jody Logan, her daughter Rochelle Nixdorf and grandchildren, Madalynn, Austin, Hailey and Chloe. His brothers, Gene Slaughter and wife Linda, John Slaughter and wife Mitzi, sister, Grace Tebbets and husband Ron, two daughters, Brandy Campbell and Shanda Rogers, his son, Matthew Slaughter and granddaughter, Karmen, two special nephews, Robert Slaughter and Tony Askins, nephew, Jerry Slaughter and many great nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, and neighbors.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial will be held at a later date.
