Mark Ernest Gidman, 70, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away from Covid on July 16, 2021 at Cox South Hospital.
He was born to parents Justin V. and Marguerite Gidman, on August 4, 1950, in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Rockville High School in Connecticut and received a Bachelor's degree in Church Growth and Missions from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.
He married Claire Estelle (Magao), the love of his life, on December 23, 1972. Mark is survived by his three sons, Mark Aaron Gidman (and wife, Beth) of Springfield; Daniel James Gidman (and wife, Jamie) of Kansas City, MO; and Joseph J.D. Gidman of Springfield. He left 7 grandchildren, 2 brothers, a sister and many nieces and nephews.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was a strong believer in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. His primary ambition in life was to be used by God to minister encouragement, hope and comfort to others. The most important people in his life were his family and close friends, but he was always aware of the passing stranger who needed a smile or a helping hand.
Over the years, Mark loved working on cars and boats and fixing computers. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything with whatever odd materials he had on hand. He had a sharp mind, a quick wit and a tender heart. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and always enjoyed a hearty breakfast in one of his favorite restaurants.
The family invites all to celebrate Mark's life at a memorial visitation to be held on September 7th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
