Marguerite Messley Thompson, 91, was born January 14, 1913 in Springfield, MO to John Messley and Lona Niva (Black) Messley, and passed away on August 14, 2004 in Christian Health Care East.

Marguerite was a 1931 graduate of Springfield (Central) High School, worked at Burge (Cox North) Hospital for 17 years in admitting and information center, and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and loved working with her flowers.

Marguerite is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Jack Ballew; granddaughter and husband Karri (Hickman) and Mike Vaught, San Antonio, TX; sister and brother-in-law Lola Mae (Cobb) and Bill York, Springfield; brother and sister-in-law Wilbert and Rae Messley, New Haven, CT; sisters-in-law Mildred Messley, New Haven, CT, and Kathryn (Thompson) Stepp, Springfield, MO; four nephews; two nieces; three great-nephews; five great-nieces; a great-great-nephew; and twin great-great-nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Eugene "Gene" Thompson; four brothers; an infant son; and a nephew.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 18, 2004 in White Chapel Memorial Gardens under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
